Over and out and single once again. Michael Fassbender and his girlfriend, Alicia Vikander, have split after less than a year of dating, a source reveals to Us Weekly exclusively.
Fassbender, 38, and Vikander, 26, first met on the set of their film, The Light Between Oceans, and continued spending time together in late 2014, fueling dating speculation. They were last photographed together in May at the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco, where they looked affectionate and happy as they enjoyed the races.
Vikander most recently starred opposite Eddie Redmayne in the Oscar buzz-generating movie The Danish Girl. Fassbender is currently working on his role as the enigmatic late Steve Jobs.
Prior to his relationship with Vikander, the Prometheus actor had a history of romancing his costars. From 2010 to 2011, he dated his considerably younger X-Men: First Class costar Zoe Kravitz. He subsequently dated his Shame costar Nicole Beharie from 2012 to 2013.
In the November 2013 issue of GQ, the Irish-German hunk admitted that his love life has suffered slightly due to his commitment to his career.
"I'm kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work," he told the mag. "I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years... I started doing this when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it."
He noted, however, that women seem more attracted to him since he joined Hollywood's A-list with roles in films like Shame, 12 Years a Slave, and more.
"You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl," he mused in the same interview. "She's all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would’ve walked away after two sentences left my mouth."
